We are seeking to recruit a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Head Office in Southampton in summer 2019, working as part of the International Division. Working in both design & delivery, you will work with an Electrical Engineer who is responsible for the design management of Power generation, water, boiler and plant rooms.
Managing project specific design deliverables
Carrying out design in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures
Detailed design in accordance with the TEL Procedures
Interpreting and understanding client requirements from client documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)
Communication with client, external design resources and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specification
Site surveys of existing assets when required
Optioneering and feasibility studies
Production of procurement specifications for electrical equipment and production of detailed design construction drawings
Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams
Review of vendor data and drawings for all electrical equipment and package plant, motor control centres, power distribution panels and field
Management of internal and external project specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager
Undertaking and checking of design calculations including modelling of the complete power system
Preparation of drawings for CAD production, in accordance with the TEL QA procedures
Assisting in the development of process control philosophies with the Process Engineer and suppliers. Production of URS documentation
Production of electrical scope and works enquiry submission documents
Estimation of material and labour costs
Undertake design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals
Preparing detailed electrical specifications
The production of single line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable schedules, equipment schedules, telemetry
schedules, instrument schedules and I/O listings
Record and document all design changes through to completion and issue of ‘As Built’ documents
Liaise with clients and subcontractors
The Trant Graduate Scheme is offered to all Graduates joining the business. This a period of training and development over 24 months, where you are assigned a mentor to carry out basic training associated with your discipline to enable you move from a Graduate Engineer, to a fully competent Engineer.
You will initially spend 6 weeks at our Head Office where you will be inducted into the business. During this time you will receive safety, health, environmental & quality training, learn the company policies & procedures and receive training to use the company Project Management System.
After completion of the 6 week induction, you will join your engineering teams (being guided by your mentor) and will become competent in carrying out engineering tasks. At 12 months, you will have commenced working on your professional review Initial Professional Development (IPD) and will be actively engaged in the Professional Forum. At this time you should be ready to work independently as a Junior Engineer and by 24 months you should be classified as an Engineer and likely to be mentoring your own first year Graduate.
