We have a number of different divisions, including; Energy, Oil & Gas, Water & Process, International and Control & Automation. We have an immediate requirement to appoint a Contracts Manager to join our team working on the National Grid IPW Framework, based at our Regional office in Altrincham and overseeing projects in the North of England and the Midlands. We are delivering the civils infrastructure for the security upgrades at Gas Compressor & Electric substations throughout the UK.  This is a temporary contract and is likely to last 3-6 months.

The Contracts Manager will be based at our Altrincham office but will be responsible for overseeing 3-4 contracts at any one time. Reporting into the Framework Manager, duties include but are not limited to;

  • Responsible for overseeing up to 4 live projects at any one time
  • Managing and supporting the Site Managers on each of your projects
  • Working closely with the commercial team, designers, planners and site teams
  • Subcontract management
  • Liaising with the SHEQ team to ensure the safe delivery of works, updating on environmental issues and ensuring quality
  • Client interface; attending regular meetings with the client and reporting on design and project completion timelines
  • Taking an active part in the tender evaluation team
  • Effective monthly reporting to the Frameworks Manager
  • Taking responsibility for the programmes
  • Due to the complexity of projects that we work on, it is essential that applicants have a background in managing the successful delivery of civil engineering projects; having some knowledge of M&E would also be beneficial. A background of working on National Grid projects is also essential. It may be that you are currently working as a Contracts Manager or perhaps you are a Project Manager who is seeking to take the next step in your career. Either way, you will have an excellent technical ability in civil engineering and be a strong manager of people, possessing the ability to get the most out of your team

Desired Skills / Background

  • HNC/HND/BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent or by experience
  • National Grid Person
  • CSCS card
  • A background of delivering civil engineering projects to budget and program
  • National Grid/Cadent project experience
  • Excellent communication skills with people of all levels
  • Organised and structures in your approach
  • IT literate
