We are seeking to appoint a Contracts Manager to join our Capital Projects team, based from our Head Office in Southampton. Reporting directly into the Director for Capital Projects, this new role involves managing several projects at any one time varying in value from £5m to £40m and responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Responsible for overseeing up to 3 live projects at any one time
  • Ensuring that the highest level of safety on all of your projects every time
  • Managing and supporting the Site Managers on each of your projects
  • Working closely with the commercial team, designers, planners and site teams
  • Subcontract management
  • Liaising with the SHEQ team to ensure the safe delivery of works, updating on environmental issues and ensuring quality
  • Client interface; attending regular meetings with the client and reporting on design and project completion timelines
  • Taking an active part in the tender evaluation team
  • Effective monthly reporting to the Director of Capital Projects
  • Taking responsibility for the programmes

Due to the complexity of projects that we deliver, it is essential that applicants have a background in managing the successful delivery of civil engineering projects; having some knowledge of general construction and M&E would also be beneficial. It may be that you are currently working as a Contracts Manager or perhaps you are a Senior Project Manager who is seeking to take the next step in your career. Either way, you will have an excellent technical ability in civil engineering and be a strong manager of people, possessing the ability to get the most out of your team to deliver projects within program and budget.

Desired Skills / Background

  • HNC/HND/BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent or by experience
  • A background in delivering civil engineering projects safely, successfully and profitably
  • Excellent communication skills with people of all levels
  • Organised and structures in your approach
  • IT literate
