The role:

We are currently seeking to appoint a Head of Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality to manage the SHEQ function for the business. The Head of SHEQ will lead the SHEQ team to maintain the high level of safety within the Trant organisation. The position supports all company business sectors, leading & supporting the delivery of Trant Engineering company policies, objectives, procedures and certifications. The Head of SHEQ will drive continuous improvement to ensure a safer working environment for all staff and contractors and will work proactively with the management teams to establish and maintain improved systems of work that consistently demonstrate compliance with established business management systems, customer lead SHEQ initiatives and legislative/regulatory directives.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Managing a SHEQ team comprising of approximately 30 currently
  • To ensure that the IMS continues to meet the required standard of the current editions of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, and achieve new certification include 50001 and 27001
  • To report to the quarterly board meetings of stats and continued improvements, ensure pro-active measures taken by the department are discussed and agreed
  • To drive the SHEQ strategy and roadmap
  • To drive the continual improvement of the Trant inhouse Cultural Development Programme (CDP). To ensure the roll-out and buy-in at all levels
    BSI audits; ensure the smooth interaction with the business & ensure collaboration
  • To assist when required in the compilation of Tenders, to work with the bids team to ensure the tender submissions are current and reflect the good working practices within Trant, this will include assisting with prequalification questionnaires and presentations to clients as required from time to time
  • To chair and attend client and internal forums for each sector
  • To liaise and instigate Incident investigation teams, assist the quality in the submission ready for sign-off
  • Track, review and analyse incident data
  • To ensure the smooth running of the SHEQ departments personal demands
  • To provide continuous improvement of the Onboarding process
  • Client liaison for the best interests of the company
  • To drive the implementation, assisting with prequalification questionnaires development, and improvement of the Business Management System (BMS) relating to safety, health, environment, and quality
  • Organise and chair the management review meetings
  • Conduct and chair monthly SHEQ meetings with the SHEQ team
  • Ensuring the preparation and maintenance of documented procedures and guidance notes etc.
  • Arrange and carry out supplier and subcontractor assessments and audits as required from time to time
  • Carry out other adhoc projects relating to SHEQ at the request of the Managing Director

Qualifications/background:

Essential:

  • A strong background in SHEQ management
  • Currently/previously managing a large team of people
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (minimum)
  • Registered member of IOSH
  • IEMA

Preferred:

  • Diploma in Health and Safety
  • CQI Certificate in Quality Management or equivalent
