We currently have an immediate requirement to recruit a Junior Planner to work on civil engineering projects at Fawley Refinery in Southampton. Projects vary from £500k - £5m and are predominantly civil engineering works, typically comprising of RC structures, roads and enabling works. We are open to receiving applications from individuals who are either working currently in a Junior Planning role or from those with a basic understanding of the planning process with industry experience, who is interested in becoming a Planner.

The Junior Planner will provide planning support to multiple live projects across the Fawley site and will be responsible for the monitoring and progress of projects against agreed schedules. Reporting into the Planning Manager, duties include but are not limited to;

  • Liaise with the construction project manager to produce an efficient a schedule for a large number of small scaled civil jobs for our client Exxon Mobil. This may include identifying constraints such as; materials, sub-contractor work, labour and equipment
  • Provide weekly and monthly feedback to the client Exxon Mobil on the progress of jobs
  • To be able to produce resource plans for 150+ labourers across 13 areas of the business
  • Produce plans for multiple small scaled construction projects across 4 areas of the business
  • Produce a productivity report for all construction work
  • Liaise with field supervisors to visit site and assess progress of work
  • Responsible for analysing and producing a forecast for site wide resources. Also advising Site manager of potential resource issues
  • Represent the company at all site wide planning meetings
  • Improving planning practices at Fawley refinery and lead stakeholder workshops to roll this out

Essential Requirements:

  • Some planning experience in a construction-based company or alternatively have been in a site-based role with at least a basic understanding of planning
  • Understanding of construction
  • Excellent time management
  • Organised and able to prioritise
  • IT literate specifically Microsoft Office (working knowledge of Microsoft Project)
  • Clear communicator orally and in written form
  • Able to work in an office or site environment

Desirable skills/qualifications:

  • CSCS Card Holder or equivalent
  • Member of a Professional Body
  • HND or Degree equivalent in an Engineering Discipline
  • Oracle Primavera Version 8.1 onwards
