Reporting to the Site Team Manager, the lead site installation technicians main role is the day to day planning, organisation and implementation of electrical site installation activities associated with the products and services as provided by Trant ACT.

Additionally to the above, the lead site installation technician will also report to the workshop supervisor when site installation works is not available to carry out manufacturing activities as deemed appropriate whilst in the workshop.

As a customer facing role within Trant ACT, the Lead Site Installation Technician has a very important role and they must be presentable in both clothing and personal appearance. They must also have exceptional communications skills and be able to deal with difficult situations in a professional manner to resolve personal and technical issues as well as ensure that all personnel working under their lead has the same professional approach.


The Lead Site Technician must have the ability to read and fully understand electrical schematic diagrams, single line diagrams and arrangement drawings.

The Lead site technician must have the ability to use test equipment such as Multifunction Meters, Clamp Meters, Signal Generators, Megger Multifunction Testers, ‘Dead Testers’ and understand the readings displayed.

The Lead Site Technician must have the ability to assess quickly changing site conditions and take the appropriate action(s) if / when required.

Also the following qualifications are desirable:

  • NVQ level 3 certificate or above.
  • CSCS or ECS card.
  • 18th Edition.

Other training can be provided for the correct candidate.


Reporting to the project Engineer/site manager, the lead site technician is responsible for ensuring:

  • That all work is carried out in accordance with company rules, policies, procedures and arrangements together with client and legal requirements.
  • That the team’s installation activities are planned organised and supervised throughout.
  • That all risk assessment and method statements for the installation activities are read understood and signed by all team members.
  • To report directly to the site manager upon arrival on site. Ensuring all competency cards are presented prior to the site induction.
  • That all work is carried out safely and that any unsafe act or condition is brought to the attention of the site Manager.
  • That all Installations are inspected and tested for compliance with design requirements prior to handover and that test records are maintained.
  • That all defects found during the installation and testing process are recorded and resolved.
  • That installation areas are safe, clean and tidy at all times.
  • That all installation activities are planned and executed safely in accordance with the appropriate site process system procedures.
  • That testing equipment is used safely, properly and for the intended purpose and that it is in calibration.
  • The Company vehicles are maintained clean, presentable, mileage records are completed daily and all fuel receipts are returned to the General Manager with the contract number written on them.
  • That stock held on the Company vehicles are correctly allocated and their use recorded. All used stock is to be communicated to the store man so that stock levels can be maintained.
  • That the tooling held on the Company vehicles are kept clean, tidy and in good functional order. Any new tooling required is requested through the General Manager.
  • To complete a ‘Take 2’ assessment before starting installation activities.
