DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP – CIVIL ENGINEERING

SOUTHAMPTON 

Here at Trant, we will be recruiting an entry-level Civil Engineer to join as a Degree Apprentice this summer. Working as part of the site teams within our various sectors and having a Civil Engineer to mentor you, you will learn Civil Engineering and Setting-Out in a hands-on role, whilst also attending university 1 day per week on a day release basis, to gain a BEng in Civil Engineering. 

Initially working at our Head Office in Southampton, the Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer will move to working on site and will report to the Site Manager but will work closely with a qualified Civil Engineer who will mentor them and train the Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer to gain experience in how to perform a full Site Engineering function. 

A Civil Engineer may be based on various sites throughout the UK, so applicants must have a UK Driving licence and must be prepared to travel and work away when required. 

Reporting to a Site Manager, responsibilities include but are not limited to; 

•             Setting out of civil engineering works using instruments and CAD

•             Site surveying tasks

•             Ensuring quality assurance/quality control requirements are met

•             Reading and understanding drawings and specifications

•             Calculating quantities

•             Complying with company policies and procedures

•             Ensuring high levels of Health & Safety at all times 

Qualifications/skills: 

·         Excellent GCSE & A’level Grades (particularly in Maths)

·         IT literate

·         Full driving licence

·         A self-starter with an excellent work ethic, a desire to learn and able to pay close attention to detail
