DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP - QUANTITY SURVEYING

SOUTHAMPTON 

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the cost control and change function of our construction and engineering sites and they are responsible for ensuring projects are completed within the financial budget and are profitable. As part of our plans for continued growth here at Trant, we will be recruiting an entry-level Quantity Surveyor to join as a Degree Apprentice this summer. Working as part of the commercial team and having a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor to mentor you, you will learn Quantity Surveying in a hands-on role whilst also attending university 1 day per week on a day release basis, to gain a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying. 

Based at our Head Office in Southampton, the Degree Apprentice Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Manager and will work closely with a qualified Quantity Surveyor who will mentor them will train the Degree Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to gain experience in how to perform a full QS function using various forms of contract including NEC3 Lump Sum, Schedule of Rates and a bespoke re-measurable contract. 

Initially in more of a commercial administrative function, duties will include but are not limited to; 

·         Valuations

·         Change Control / Compensation Events

·         Subcontractor Procurement

·         CVR's

·         Early Warnings

·         Updating Risk Register

·         Monthly Commercial Reporting

·         Cash Flow Forecasts

·         Subcontractor Payments

·         Final accounts 

Qualifications/Competency 

·         Excellent GCSE & A’level Grades (particularly in Maths and English)

·         IT literate

·         Full driving licence

·         A self-starter with an excellent work ethic and a desire to learn
