LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR

Devon & Cornwall 

We are seeking to recruit a Logistics Supervisor to join our South West Water Team in Devon & Cornwall. The Logistics Supervisor will report to the Logistics Manager and will be responsible for overseeing the logistics daily activities between two depots in Cornwall (Penzance and Falmouth), where materials, plant and other containers will move to various sites in Devon and Cornwall, including the Isles of Scilly. The Logistics Supervisor will maintain the highest level of health & safety at all times whilst ensuring that service, quality, programme and productivity targets are met consistently. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly awarded programme of works to enhance the water and wastewater treatment provision in Devon and Cornwall, including all five inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly, working with the Logistics Manager to ensure the smooth running of the logistics operation throughout the entire scheme. 

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, duties include but are not limited to; 

·         Ensure the safe and timely offloading of materials, plant and other storage containers at depots in Penzance & Falmouth.

·         Check off all goods received.

·         Coordinate with suppliers, management and site teams regarding all movement of materials, plant and other storage containers.

·         Develop the current knowledge and understanding of shipping, logistics and transport constraints established by the project team to prepare and maintain up to date logistic plans for each island and associated project.

·         Work closely with the procurement department and logistics supply chain partners in line with our procurement procedures.

·         Ensure Health, Safety, COSHH, and Environmental regulations are always adhered to and that any (and all), incidents are reported in line with Company procedures.

·         Work closely with suppliers, logistics, transport & ferry companies to organise and plan the movement of plant & materials from the mainland to the various islands.

·         Report to the Logistics Manager on performance of suppliers, logistics, transport & ferry companies. 

Background & Skills; 

·         A background in logistics/transportation.

·         A working knowledge of Health & Safety within logistics & transportation.

·         Excellent communications & organisational skills

·         Proactive and hardworking.

·         Customer focussed and an excellent problem-solver.

·         Able to prioritise workloads successfully to work to tight deadlines.

·         IT literate in Word & Excel.

·         A clean UK Driving licence.

·         A background within construction or engineering would be advantageous but not essential.
